unit 10

Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas. How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not?
I have assessed my personal assessment of my psychological, physical and spiritual well being and in the psychological area and I had rated myself about a 6.5 and I feel that I am now on the upper end of the 7. My physical rating was at a 10 and I feel that I am still at a 10 as I have been accomplishing my goals day by day with my training. My spiritual wellbeing I had rated myself a 7 and I feel that I am still holding strong at a 7 and maybe sometimes a 7.5. I really feel that the only score that has really changed is my psychological wellbeing and it has change for the better, I am able to calm myself, maintain peace and relieve myself of worry. The other two scores haven’t changed, my training is consistent and as far as my spiritual wellbeing, I have made the steps to get back to church, but still not as much as I would like to, therefore I don’t feel that it has enough merit to be changed at this time.

Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain.
I have met my goals psychologically, as I truly feel like a better person on the inside and out, I feel that I am more of a solid foundation, and I was solid before, so that is a great feeling for me. I have an overwhelming urge to remain peaceful and it is a wonderful feeling not to allow turmoil in your life. My physical goals, I am maintaining on a daily and weekly basis, and as of now I am still on track for my next scheduled show, so I am excited about that as well. Spiritually I feel as though in this area I haven’t maintained or hit the goals that I wanted, I really wanted to become an active participant in church, and I am just not at that level, however I am going more often, so baby steps it is.
Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.
I feel that both physically and psychologically I have implemented that activities that I chose very well, physically, through my training transformation, I had to take stock in myself and really see where I was going, I ended up switching trainers as well as competition divisions but I am still on pace for my competition goals. Psychologically, I have gained more personal growth from the activities that I chose that I ever thought I would, I really honed in on the meditation and I fell in love with it, it is something that I recommend to people who talk to me that are stress out and it is something that I practice every day as well. Spiritually, I have fallen short of the mark for my activities, like I mentioned before I really wanted to be more active in church and I am barley maintaining a presents at the church but I am taking it one Sunday at a time.

Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?
Let me just start by saying that my personal experience in this course is one of bitter sweet memories that is for sure. While I was losing my dad day by day in the hospital, I was trying to also learn about meditation, and how to help yourself to overcome obstacles. It was a brutal lesson and one that I didn’t want to learn. I didn’t want to care about how to make yourself feel better while I held my dad’s hand every day praying to God he would get better. I found however as the days and the weeks went buy that the more I meditated the more at peace I felt, and the more at peace I felt the better decisions I was making about my dad’s arrangements and then life in general. I found that I have a very strong sense of peace in my heart and in my decisions and that came from meditation, through learning how to channel out the bad and bring in the good. That has been so rewarding as well as difficult for me. I use this experience every day to help others, whether it be to make them realize how important health, healing and happiness is, or whether it is to just help them bring peace to their heart. I have always believed that you are the best you when your insides match your outsides. This class has taught me how to maintain that on a daily basis in all circumstances, through the jitters of a new class down to saying my final goodbye’s to my dad.
